AJ Irvin is a 2017 C/RHP/IF with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Kingwood, TX who attends Kingwood HS. Medium athletic build, good strength for his age with more to come. Right handed hitter, exaggerated inside approach with limited weight transfer forward, swings hard but hands loop under the ball, ball comes off the barrel much better when pulling, has the strength to hit with adjustments. Good arm strength from a long, loose arm action and low exchange, 2.24 game pop, 2.16 in between innings, also plays infield. Different arm action on the mound with a compact high wrap, stays balanced and directional to the plate well. Mid-70's fastball is mostly straight with occasional arm side running action, soft curveball and developing change, threw strikes and competed. Good student.
