Matthew Becker is a 2016 OF/RHP with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Waverly Hall, GA who attends Harris County. Medium, athletic build with broad shoulders, projects to add more strength to his solid, sturdy build. Extended, full arm-action with some presentation on the backside, has solid armspeed and gets through quickly. Online delivery, works to a 3/4's arm slot. Fastball up to 87 mph, has some slight gloveside run at times, also shows some wiggle to the armside when locating to that side. Flashes feel for changeup, maintains solid armspeed, pitch has some dive and fading action off of the fastball. Also can flash solid control of breaking ball with 11/5 break, will throw for strikes. Also worked out in the outfield, smooth fielding actions, can get a bit out of control at release, has arm strength. Right handed hitter, level swing plane with some feel for the barrel. Shows strength and some jump into the gaps when squared. Named to the Fall Academic Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
