Corey King is a 2018 3B/RHP with a 5-9 185 lb. frame from Lithonia, GA who attends Arabia Mountain HS. Medium frame with an athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Ran a 7.24 sixty-yard dash. Primary third baseman, funnels baseball off to side while working through ground balls. Gets the baseball out quickly with quick glove to hand transfers into a loose arm action from a near over top slot. Throws generated some carry across the infield with developing accuracy, topped at 80 miles per hour to the bag. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance. Lower half launches to contact with linear actions producing shift into contact. Flashed solid hand quickness through the zone with a simple, repeatable line drive swing plane. Showed a gap to gap approach while swinging with intent to drive the baseball through the alleys. Also pitched, stays in line while driving the the plate with some deception at releases. Primarily released from a mid three-quarters arm slot, but flashed the ability to mix arm angle at release as well. Fastball showed good running action to arm side between 71-76 miles per hour. Slider has sweeping shape to glove side with occasional horizontal depth. Has present knowledge of pitching and consistently pounded the strike zone with each pitch. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
