Jerrud Sabourin is a 2007 1B/P/OF with a 6'2'', 202 lb. frame from San Diego, CA, who attends Torrey Pines HS. He has an extra large frame with present strength and projection. He did some great things at the event at the plate, on the mound, and in the field. Defensively he has soft hands with nice footwork around the first base bag. He made a great diving stop to his right showing great reactions and range. At the plate he is a left handed hitter who hits from straight away stance and a slight crouch. Sabourin is very balanced at the plate with strong wrists and good bat speed. He throws the bat head well driving the ball. He gets good extension with leverage at contact showing projectable power. He smoked some balls in game action and hustled on the bases with instincts. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with good arm action and arm speed. Sabourin throws with minimal effort and has a balanced delivery. He has command of the strike zone and throws both pitches for strikes. He gets arm side run on his fastball that topped out at 80 mph, and mixes in a 12 to 6 CB with depth. He mixes his pitches well and misses bats. He allowed only 1 hit in his 3 IP while striking out 2. Two-way prospect who is an excellent student as well.
