Chad Takabuki is a 2006 MIF from Mid-Pacific Institute, residing in Honolulu, HI with a 5'6" 155 lb. frame. Takabuki has a compact and athletic body type and though he is not big, he has some explosiveness in his game. On offense Takabuki hits from a square stance and has loose, lively hands. His bat is quick and his swing is easy. Though he is aggressive once his swing starts, he maintains excellent balance during the swing because of his quiet pre-pitch approach. At contact, Takabuki explodes through the ball with his hands, partly because his lower half works so well. He is a line drive hitter with some gap pop and very good bat control. Not a middle of the order type, Takabuki can be a bit of a producer in the two spot or the eight spot where he would surprise some pitchers. He ran as low as 7.02 in the 60 and 4.40 home to first so he can put a little pressure on the defense if he gets out of the box well. He is a good all-around player and on defense he sets up to the ball well. Takabuki has a nice, quick release, making easy and accurate flip type throws when the situation calls for it, he seems to understand the speed of the game. He is best moving to his right and on balls right at him, which means at 2B he could be positioned toward the 4-hole and still cover toward the bag well. Takabuki competes well and knows the game. He is very good at 2B and is a good decision maker in the field. Takabuki plays bigger than his size and he is a solid college type baseball player.
