Andrew Meggs is a 2017 SS/2B with a 5-10 145 lb. frame from San Jose, CA who attends Leland HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill out. Ran a 7.36 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, moves well on feet, comes to ball nicely with longer strides up middle, high energy motor, fields out front and picks backhand well, quick transfer with arm strength that projects and will continue to develop. Also pitched, leg lift at start just below the belt, works to a high three-quarter arm slot with a short path at release. Shows looseness through the back, occasionally under at release but shows running life to fastball at 75 mph when down in zone. Big curveball, shows nice depth with 12-6 shape and tight rotation. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and hand set pulled back. Small toe tap trigger, upper body swing with short bat path to the ball and a line drive swing plane. Shows a feel for the barrel and repeats it well, contact approach with steady line drive contact to the middle of the field. Very good student.
