Colin Rucker is a 2017 RHP/2B, 3B, OF with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Raleigh, NC who attends Leesville Road High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Primary right handed pitchers, drops hands to start, works from the middle of the rubber, online landing, long arm action, and throws from an extended three quarter arm slot. Minimal effort delivery with a short stride to the plate and ability to get downhill. Fastball worked 74-77/78 mph with arm side life and effectively pitching to contact. Best command came when working to glove side, successfully getting in on left handed hitters' hands. Showed curveball with 11/5 shape and flashed tightness with good depth. Feel for the pitch and ability to throw it for strikes. Changeup as well with slight sink at 71 mph. Secondary infielder, showed a quick first step, smooth actions to backhand, and got in a good position to throw. Developing arm strength up to 78 mph. At the plate, started with a slightly open stance, high hand set, high back elbow, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Limited lower half in swing, quickness to barrel through the zone with an up the middle and opposite field approach. Compact swing through the zone with a line drive swing plane. Would see more consistency in swing with additional lower half and rhythm to swing.
