Blake Lazarine is a 2016 1B/3B with a 6-2 220 lb. frame from Lufkin, TX who attends Lufkin. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and nice present strength in his frame. Primary first baseman, fields the ball with a wide base and out front, shows nice footwork off the base, quick transfers, stays tall at release with a short arm action on throws across. Left-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a lower half set. Upper body swing, shows a quick stroke and path to the ball and creates line drive contact, feel to hit to the middle and pull side parts of the field. Shows a sound approach during in game at bats, won't expand the strike zone, will show more power in swing with incorporation of lower half. Very good student.
