Jose Alaniz is a 2016 OF/RHP with a 5-8 195 lb. frame from Lubbock, TX who attends Monterey. Medium, ahtletic build with broad shoulders and nice present strength in build. Ran a 7.24 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, shows a shorter arm action on throws, moves well to the ball and shows sound mechanics, gets on top of throws which generates nice carry once in flight. Also pitched, throws from a high three-quarter arm slot with a tight release. Attacks hitters with a fastball that topped at 82 mph and misses barrels with it and shows a changeup at 76 mph, releasing from the same arm slot. Right-handed batter, starts with a high hand set and a high back elbow. Upper body swing, line drive plane, shows a sound approach during in game at bats. Shows some strength to pull side, gets hands in well. More power to come with incorporation of lower half into swing. Good student.
