Kalvin Shepherd is a 2016 3B/1B, C with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends Linn-Mar. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength throughout. Right handed hitter with an open stance and strides to a even balanced position. Aggresive hitter with a mid-field approach. Shows a line drive swing path with the ability to stay back and produce opposite field contact. Tends to be extended at contact and gets to finish quickly. Defensively worked from the infield. Sits back on baseball with a tendency to stop momentum on throws. Deliberate footwork and funneling actions while surrounding the baseball. Shows some range to both sides with accurate throws on the move, topped at 77 mph across. Will continue to develop with physical maturity and added fluidity. Very good student.
