2015 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Alec Telles is a 2016 3B/1B, RHP, C with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Orange, CA who attends Santa Margarita Catholic HS. Large frame with broad shoulders and a strong lower half, present strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.64 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, does a nice job of getting on top of throws, waits back on ball and fields close to body, compact arm action with accurate throws across the diamond, strength will continue to develop. Also pitched, throws with a full arm action in the back and a high three-quarter arm slot. Stays tall on back side with slight pause at top, hides the ball well before creating some downhill plane on fastball that topped 82 mph with occasional cutting life from cross body release. Curveball shows depth when on top, mixes well and keeps hitters off balance. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a high set. Barred start, shows a patient approach in the box and looks to hit to all fields with intent. Remains short to the ball, looks to lift but creates line drive contact to the middle and pull side parts of the field. Very good student.
