Nico Ramos is a 2017 SS/IF with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Langham Creek. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength to frame, proportioned well with a strength to lower half as well. Ran a 7.14 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, moves well to the ball with a good first step, compact arm action and has a tight release, effort at release but gets on top of throws and shows present strength and carry across the diamond with nice momentum through the ball, accurate throws, arm plays well on left side. Also pitched, shows a fuller arm action and a three-quarters release point on the mound with a hip coil at top of delivery, lands on line with lower half. Generates short running life on fastball, topped out at 83 mph with short running life, occasionally late with arm stroke through the back, creates cut action when on time and located to glove side. Slider showed short sweeping depth at 70 mph, more depth and snap to curveball at 66 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and a narrow stance in the box. Direct path to the ball with short swing plane to the point of contact, shows quickness to hands and looks to lift the ball out front with an uphill path. Uses a leg lift trigger for timing and gets it down well, able to generate carry with best contact coming to the pull side. Very good student.
