Jack Newman is a 2016 LHP with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Seattle, WA who attends Bishop Blanchet HS. Medium athletic build, has some present strength. Leg raise delivery with good hip turn, short stride out front with good direction and gets over his front side well, high 3/4's arm slot, creates downhill angle on his pitches, sound overall mechanics. Upper 70's fastball, topped out at 80 mph, fastball mostly straight with occasional glove side cutting action but showed he could work it to both sides of the plate. Big breaking 12/6 curveball has tight spin and occasional bite, could throw his curveball more often. Rare change up had solid deception and could throw that more as well. Threw strikes and competed well. Good student.
