Johnny Reckers is a 2016 1B with a 6-4 216 lb. frame from Quincy, IL who attends Quincy HS. XL frame with broad shoulders and lots of present strength, still projects to add build to body with physical maturation. Sets up to hit with a wide base and stands square to the plate. Rotational swing that is built more for power than contact. Legitimate over-the-fence power at present, with more coming in the future with added consistency. Swings very hard and does not get cheated. Pull-field approach with the ability to go back up the middle. Swing has lift and is very leveraged with lots of strength. Worked out at 1B during defensive drills. Provides a big target for infielders to throw to. Deliberate fielding mechanics with solid footwork. Good arm strength topping out at 78 MPH across the diamond to 3B. Will rush throws at times, leading to slight wildness. Excellent student.
