Robert Vargas is a 2016 2B/3B, SS with a 5-8 163 lb. frame from Chicago, IL who attends Whitney Young. Smaller, atheltic frame. Open stance and strides back to even at the plate. Shows some hand and bat speed. Generates most bat speed when clearing hips to hit the baseball to pull side. Primarily looks to pull the baseball with quick hands to contact and to finish. Linear lower half that works to front foot at contact. Shows some range to both sides in the infield. Good footwork around the baseball and funnels that baseball well. Short, quick arm actions from a high 3/4 slot and clean exchanges. Shows good instincts and charges ball well. Topped at 75 mph across infield. Projects as a 2B. Very good student as well.
