Connor Calhoun is a 2018 C/2B with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Calhoun, LA who attends West Ouachita HS. Compact frame, solid build with room to continue filling out. Worked out at catcher, receives out in front well, shows feel for handling pitches. Quick exchange and transfer to compact release, could stay deeper in crouch and use lower half more consistently in throwing mechanics, popped as low as 2.01 in defensive drills. Right handed hitter, low hands set with hands tight to body. Varied lower-half timing, at times will use toe-tap and others will utilize true stride out. Shows looseness and fluidity in long swing, flashes solid line-drive contact to the gaps, should continue to improve with minor mechanical adjustments and more consistent hand path to contact.
