Matthew Wheatley is a 2019 1B/OF with a 5-10 140 lb. frame from Kingwood, TX who attends Kingwood HS. Medium frame and a slender build, room to fill out as he continues to physically mature. From the outfield, moves quickly and aggressively through the baseball. Accurate throws to the bases with developing carry. Actions played better in the outfield but had more controlled throws from first base. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with a slightly closed stance, wide base, and a high hand set. Short compact swing, middle of the field approach. Does a nice job of getting the barrel through the zone. More hard barrels to come as extension on swing further develops. Outstanding student.
