Mitchell Wertz is a 2019 RHP/1B with a 6-4 190 lb. frame from Plano, TX who attends Plano West Senior HS. Large frame, athletic build, projectable with room to fill out. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot, short arm action, and developing arm speed. Has a short stride and a leg raise up past belt. Developing lower half, frame projects. Does a nice job of hiding the ball. Fastball has occasional cut. Quick 11/5 curveball shape. Changeup has some late bite to it. Uses both sides of the plate. Young tools, may see even more projection with longer arm action. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with squared stance and a small toe tap trigger. Swings on a line drive swing plane and has solid contact to all fields. Good student.
