Brandon Nieves is a 2008 MIF/3B/P with a 5'10'', 162 lb. frame from West Palm Beach FL, who attends Palm Beach Central HS. He has a medium frame and projectable strength. Nieves is a very aggressive player, especially on defense. He was all over the field making plays and showed good quickness and sound defensive fundamentals. His arm strength played much better in the games than in drills, when he seemed rushed. Nieves hits out of a wide stance with a limited load and good balance in his swing. He has some hand strength for his size and drove the ball well when he kept his swing short and didn't jump out at the ball. He should have some gap to gap power down the road. Nieves also pitched a bit, showing a 74-76 mph fastball and 65 mph curveball. Overall, Nieves is a gamer who will play his way onto the field if you give him a chance and try to beat you every pitch. He is also a very good student.
