Shigeki Yoshida is a 2016 LHP with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Urasoe, Okinawa, JPN who attends Urasoe Shogyo HS. Medium, athletic frame with long limbs and a strong lower half. Ran a 7.57 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher, full arm swing through the back to a low three-quarter to almost sidearm release point. Steady paced delivery, creates a lot of deception in wind up and hides the ball well, works across body with extension out front. Able to generate nice good arm speed and nice running life to arm speed on fastball, topped out at 80 mph. Slider compliments fastball well, maintains arm speed and shows sweeping life with 2-8 shape and occasional late tilting life. Mixes well and lives down in the zone, misses barrels and induces ground ball contact. Maintains arm speed on changeup at 73 mph, flashing fading life to arm side. Quick to the ball in outfield, fields out front, sound fundaments through the ball, lower slot at release. Left-handed hitter, starts with a narrow and upright stance with hands away from body. Line drive swing plane, stays through the ball and shows lift and separation in swing. Consistent contact to pull side with carry off the barrel, incorporates strong lower half well and clears hips nicely.
