Gavin Hinchliffe is a 2017 RHP with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Pottsville, PA who attends Pottsville Area HS. Medium athletic build, has some present strength. High energy delivery, high arm takeaway in back, high 3/4's to over the top arm slot, extended arm action coming through. Fastball topped out at 90 mph, have seen up to 92 mph before, fastball is straight, will need to develop consistency with vertical command with his base delivery mechanics. Mid-70's curveball, gets good spin and worked down in the zone better with it than with his fastball, 12/6 downer shape when on top of it. Reliever profile at present, next step is developing delivery consistency and command. Good student, verbal commitment to Virginia Tech.
