Rick Versace is a 2008 C with a 5'11'', 150 lb. frame from Boca Raton FL, who attends West Boca Raton HS. He has a lean, wiry frame. Versace threw 76 mph during catching drills with a best pop time of 2.07. He has very good arm strength and and a quick transfer on his throws but his footwork is slow at this point. His pop times could improve quickly with some work. Versace hits from a pre-load/pull back/no stride approach and has a long, flat swing. He has some bat speed and stays on the plane of the ball for a long time. He'll make consistent contact to all fields but this is a low ceiling hitting approach. Versace has some tools that can keep developing. He is also a good student.
