2016 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Cameron Irvine is a 2017 SS/2B, RHP with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from Penn Laird, VA who attends Spotswood High School. Extra-large frame, lean, slender build, athleticism, and lots of room to continue to develop physically and add strength. Posted an impressive 6.86 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, changed slots up the middle, developing release, clean transfer, and raw arm strength up to 82 mph. At the plate, started with an upright stance, wide base, high hand set, high back elbow, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Short, compact swing path, quickness to hands, line drive swing plane, and a direct to ball approach. Worked all fields with occasional torque through lower half. Also pitched, open landing down the mound, compact arm circle, and deception. Limited lower half drive, but gets downhill well through finish. Fastball worked 77-80 mph with arm side life and command of the pitch. Showed changeup with sink and fade and mixed it well. Kept hitters off balance and changed looks while on the mound. Exceptional student. Named to Top Prospect List.
