Justin Barber is a 2017 C/RHP with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Olympia, WA who attends Tumwater HS. Slender young athletic build, lots of room to get stronger. 7.36 runner, has good quickness behind the plate blocking and shifting, long and loose arm action, nice arm strength with carry on his throws, 2.09 best pop time, can shorten glove/hand transfer . Right handed hitter, open stance with a high hand start, long extended swing with the beginnings of some bat speed, best contact is pulling the ball but showed he could go to all fields, projects as a hitter with additional strength. Also pitched, long and clean arm action from a high 3/4's slot, arm works well, deliberate delivery mechanics. Fastball topped out at 78 mph, gets good downhill angle at times but can pitch down in the zone more consistently, primary fastball pitcher, showed an occasional short hard slider. Good athlete who should keep improving. Good student.
