2015 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Jesse Retzlaff is a 2016 RHP/OF/2B with a 6-0 150 lb. frame from Eagan, MN who attends Minnehaha Academy. Lean, athletic frame and build with good projection remaining. On the mound, employs spine tilt delivery with good leg drive, short/tight arm action with some wrap in the back to a high 3/4 slot, worked with FB/CB combo. FB works in the mid 70's, topping at 78 MPH with good life to the arm side. CB shows 11/5 shape with some depth, a bit loose at times. Didn't throw changeup in game but flashed a straighter one in warmups with good feel and velo separation. Hits from open stance with a higher hand set, creates somewhat uphill path via extended hand movement. Shows solid bat speed with ability to hit the ball hard. Worked out both in infield and outfield during drills. Showed good body control and a strong arm from the outfield, topping at 82 MPH. Compact arm action, moves well to the ball. Shows solid actions in the infield, fields well with some stiffness, likewise strong arm across diamond. Ran 7.56 60 yard dash. Very good student.
