Sullivan has solidly built middle infielder’s body that he gets full use of on the mound. He gets good hip turn and power but collapses his back leg a little early and pitches from what amounts to a drop and drive style. Sullivan’s fastball was 83-86 mph and with some tail and sink from a high ¾’s release point. What really opened our eyes, though, was Sullivan’s curveball, which was down right dirty at times. Sullivan throws it hard at 74 mph and gets a hard, sharp power break to it. On the big league grading scale it’s an average Major League pitch right now and will flash plus action at times. Sullivan uses his weapon with confidence and has excellent command of the pitch. Sullivan is a very good student but we don’t have a record of his signing yet. For us, he can pitch D1 just about anywhere with that arm and that curveball.
