Kaylor Conn is a 2018 C/3B with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Mansfield, TX who attends The Oakridge. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Projects for additional size with strength. Primary catcher with a low, slightly side set stance while receiving. Gains ground towards the bag while working out of crouched with solid footwork. Clean exchanges with a quick glove circle and released from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Throws generated on line carry to the bag topping at 76 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.02. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and simple front side trigger. Creates some hand coil at load and works to contact on an inside path. Barrel comes through the zone on a slightly lifted plane and maintained balance well throughout. Flashed good hip torque when launching to contact that created solid bat speed when on time. Looked to drive the ball between the gaps but also flashed the hand speed to turn the barrel and work to pull side. Also pitched showing a simple rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side with slight coil at balance. Shorter stride to the plate and lands in line at finish. Medium arm circle at separation and released from a high three-quarters slot. Hides baseball well at take back and generated some downhill angle to the plate with a fastball that topped at 79 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with good spin and flashed sharp depth in the low 60's. Maintained arm speed with a changeup offing that had some sinking action and fade to arm side in the upper 60's. Created good deception at release and consistently mixed all three pitched effectively keeping hitters off balance. Outstanding student.
