Blake Stegner is a 2019 RHP/OF with a 5-10 145 lb. frame from Blue Springs, MO who attends Blue Springs HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.28 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple, repeatable side step delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and stays on line while driving to the plate. Deep arm stab back with a smooth arm circle into a three-quarters arm slot. Creates good extension out front with finish. Fastball had occasional downward angle to the plate in the upper 60's, topped at 70 mph. Curveball had 11/5 shape with softer spin and good depth down in the zone. Also flashed a changeup that had sinking action down in the zone. Changeup offering had deceptive arm action that matched fastball offering. Consistently filled the strike zone will keeping hitter off balance and inducing weak contact. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing athletic actions while closing to the baseball. Clean glove skills while funneling the baseball with smooth, extended exchanges. Creates good momentum to the bag with a crow hop gather and releases from a high three-quarters slot. Topped a 70 mph generating some on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with a spread, straight stance and high back elbow set. Lower half shows some linear actions to contact. Loose, fluid had path to contact that produced a naturally lifted plane through extension. Looks to lift the baseball to the outfield with a gap to gap approach. Flashed good pop and bat speed when turning barrel head to contact and working to the pull side gap. Outstanding student as well.
