Spencer Flatt is a 2018 LHP/OF with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Ardmore, OK who attends Plainview HS. Medium frame with a long, lean athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Ran a 7.24 sixty yard dash. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple side step delivery. Generates a deeper hip coil at gather building torque. Swings gate when driving to the plate, but stays in line and delivery and carries momentum through finish. Generates some spinal tilt while releasing from a compact, high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball has solid running actions with occasional downhill angle between 75-80 miles per hour. Slows arm speed slightly with a curveball offering that showed solid rotation and depth down in the zone. Also showed a changeup offering that flashed good, late fade to arm side in the low 70's. Consistently pounded the strike zone and changed speeds throughout each inning of work. Very effective while holding runners on base with the willingness to change up pace and looks. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing fluid lower half actions while working to and through the baseball. Squares shoulders while funneling the baseball cleanly off to side. Generated solid carry from a compact arm action when staying on top of baseball, topped at 82 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a spread, slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Simple leg lift trigger and launches into contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended hand path to contact that generates good lift through extension. Primarily used a mid-field approach, but flashed the hand skills to turn barrel to contact and generated hard line drives to the pull side gap. Showed best balance and barrel skills when triggers was on time and swinging with fluidity. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Very good student as well.
