Brenden Gent is a 2006 MIF/3B from Bainbridge HS, residing on Bainbridge Island, WA, with a 5'9", 170 lb. frame. He has a strong and compact build suited for handling contact around the bag at second base. Gent hits from a slightly close stance and is a contact type hitter. At his best his swing is flat through the zone and he has some bat speed, suggesting that he will be able to get in the gaps on occasion. He maintains good balance in his swing and has strong wrists. Gent gets the barrel to the ball though a strong top hand can at times take him out of the zone too early. His throws track fairly well and the ball exits his hand decently, but his arm strength is is below average. Gent is fundamentally sound on ground balls, working from down to up and staying low. His feet and hands are good. He appears to be a gamer type who plays hard and for players like him, there is a spot in college baseball.
