Jon Carnahan is a 2008 C/1B/P with a 6'2'', 210 lb. frame from Port Neches, TX, who attends Port Neches Groves HS. He has an extra large frame with present strength. Defensively he does a good job framing pitches behind the plate with soft hands, and showed the ability to block balls from side to side. He threw 71 mph on his throws with a best pop time of 2.09. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a slightly open to straight away stance. Carnahan takes a short stride with balance throughout his swing. He has solid bat speed with a line drive swing plane, and shows the ability to hit the ball to all fields. On the mound he throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with solid arm speed and arm action. His fastball topped out at 79 mph, and he mixed in a 63 mph curveball with 11 to 5 break and a 65 mph changeup. He is also a very good student.
