Tyler Pastornicky is a 2008 MIF/P with a 5'11'', 165 lb. frame from Bradenton, FL who attends The Pendleton School. He has a lean, smaller framed body with some deceptive strength. Pastornicky had an outstanding showcase and not only showed his ability to perform, as he always does, but also showed his physical tools. Offensively, Pastornicky has a leadoff hitter's mentality at the plate and on the bases. He has a quick line drive swing and hits the ball to all fields, with the bat speed to get it out to the gaps occasionally. He has the hands to hit the ball solidly even when he's fooled or off balance. Pastornicky is a 6.58/4.14 runner and he's going to beat out hits and steal bases. He's one of the best and most aggressive baserunners in the 2008 class. Defensively, Pastornicky's arm strength keeps getting better every time we see him and he threw 91 mph across the infield and 90 mph from the mound. He has solid defensive actions with limited flash or wasted motion and knows how to play. The quickness, athletic ability and arm strength are all there. There are few players anywhere in the country who play with the energy and enthusiasm that Pastornicky brings to the field; he's fun to watch play the game.

Tyler Pastornicky is a 2008 MIF/P with a 5'11'', 165 lb. frame from Bradenton FL, who attends The Pendleton School. He has a lean, athletic frame that is young and hasn't started filling out yet. Pastornicky had an outstanding event and has established himself as one of the top middle infielders in the 2008 class. He has very advanced defensive tools at shortstop. His hands work very well and he maintains excellent balance at all times. Pastornicky has plenty of arm strength to play the middle infield at the upper levels and it seems like all his throws are right on the first baseman's chest. His release can be a bit long at times but that is a small critique. Offensively, Pastornicky is a high average hitter with a good coil and set up and a quick line drive swing. His hitting mechanics are very sound and consistent and he hits through the ball to all fields. He'll slash his share of doubles and triples and will be helped by his 6.71 speed. We also got to see Pastornicky pitch for the first time and while he is definitely a primary middle infielder, he did show prospect level pitching tools, throwing up to 88 mph on his fastball and showing a very good 71 mph CB with deep, hard biting action. Probably the most notable part of Pastornicky's game aside from his tool level is that he has as much fun playing as any prospect in the country; he's full of bounce and enthusiasm at all times. He has a great future in the game.

Tyler Pastornicky is a 2008 MIF/P with a 5'11'', 165 lb. frame from Bradenton FL, who attends The Pendleton School. He has a slender young body and wiry present strength. Pastornicky was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team and keeps improving across his entire game. Defensively, Pastornicky has a very good feel for the ball and makes plays. He has quick feet and plenty of range and his throws are easy with plus carry. His arm action and release are a little long at times but that's quibbling. He's a top tier defensive player in the middle of the field. At the plate, Pastornicky has very advanced swing fundamentals. He has a good coil, keeps his weight back and squares up and hits through the ball. He has good bat speed and can drive the ball to the gaps and will continue to improve with more strength. Lots of hitters could learn from watching the type of balance Pastornicky has when he swings. He showed very good baserunning instincts, acceleration and 6.72 speed in the 60. Pastornicky also filled in a few innings on the mound and we shouldn't have been surprised when he topped out at 89 mph with a hammer of a 71 mph curveball that buckled hitters knees even when they knew it was coming.

Tyler Pastornicky is a 2008 MIF with a 5'11'', 155 lb. frame from Bradenton FL, who attends The Pendleton School. He has an athletic build and is very projectable. Pastornicky has very good speed, running a 6.72 60 and showing quick feet on defense. His hands are very smooth and polished at shortstop and he can field the ball off balance and on the run. He has the arm strength to remain at shortstop as the game speeds up, although he tends to have a somewhat long overhand release on throws. Offensively, Pastornicky hits from a narrow, tall stance with busy hands in his set up. He has a line drive swing with some lift at the end and solid present bat speed Pastornicky looks to pull the ball with his quick hands but stays balanced at contact. He's a nice looking young hitter with the swing and tools to develop some power in the future as he fills out. Pastornicky also showed advanced base running instincts and the ability to take an extra base when he got the opportunity. Overall, he's a very nice young middle infielder who we look forward to seeing more of in the future.
