LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2006 Hawaii Showcase
Wade Tamaru is a 2009 MIF from Mid-Pacific Institute, residing in Aiea, HI with a 5'7" 135 lb. frame. Tamaru is a young player with a compact and athletic body type. On offense he starts with from a square stance and uses a high step rhythm approach to hitting. Tamaru takes a pretty direct path to the ball and has a short finish. Throughout his swing Tamaru maintains good balance. He stays in the middle of the field due to his swing being pretty consistently being on time. His hands work and even at a young age, he shows some bat speed. Basically, Tamaru has a simple swing and is a good contact hitter. That is enough for him to be as a high school freshman. His 7.54 60 speed should decrease as he physically matures and adds power to his body. On defense Tamaru has good body control. He takes nice angles to the ball, his hands work, and he has a pretty quick release. Overall Tamaru is a solid player on defense with good fundamentals. He understands defense and situations, and seems to be able to slow down the game a bit. When this report was originally written on him, he was the youngest player at the Hawaii Showcase and he competed well against players that were all 1-3 years older than him. Tamaru should be followed the next few summers.
