Colin Carmody is a 2006, RHP, 6'1-200 from Tampa, FL who attends Wharton HS. He has a tall athletic build with good strength. Carmody throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a short loose arm. He stays around the plate very well and keeps the ball down. His fastball has some late cut action at 82 mph. His curveball is solid at 72 mph with tight 10-4 rotation that he locates very well. He has a very good mound presence and simple mechanics. Listed as a secondary OF, Carmody showed very good power at the plate. At the plate he is a RH hitter with a tall stance and quiet approach to the ball. He has a no load approach with very good bat speed and he can turn on the ball. Colin shows very good hand strength and likes the ball in. He has very good power with some lift in swing. He did not throw from the OF in workouts, but with his ability to drive the ball, he will make coaches want to see him in the OF. Carmody is a very athletic two way player who coaches will want to see.
