Drake Sasser is a 2008 C/3B with a 5'11'', 175 lb. frame from Opelika AL, who attends Opelika HS. He has good present strength for his size and age and should continue to get stronger. Sasser has a very calm approach at the plate, with good balance and a line drive swing that stays short and on the ball. It looks like Sasser is intentionally taking a high average approach to hitting; his hands get to the ball very quickly but he's satisfied to square up to the ball and hit a line drive. The power might come down the road. Defensively, Sasser threw much better during games than during drills, where he appeared out of sync. He moved well behind the plate blocking balls and used his athletic ability well. Sasser is also a very good student.
