2007 Hawaii Showcase Tournament
Klifford Hawkins is a 2009 SS/P/2B with a 5'7'', 150 lb. frame from Kailua-Kona HI, who attends Makua Lani Christian HS. He has a small frame and a wiry build, with. long arms. Hawkins is a gamer type of player, the type that plays above his raw ability. His one above average ability is running. Offensively he is a contact type of hitter with an aggressive approach. Hawkins has some bat speed and at times showed the type of bat control and opposite field approach that could allow him to develop into a good two-hole or leadoff hitter. He does need to be a bit more selective. In the field he seems to enjoy playing defense. He is not an actions oriented type of player, rather a scrapper that simply makes the play. Hawkins understands angles and timing on defense. Moving to his left he is quite good. He is a good student and a good young ballplayer.
