Christopher Velazquez is a 2007 C/P/SS with a 5'8'', 160 lb. frame from Pomona NY, who attends Albertus Magnus HS. He has a short frame with some present strength. Velazquez ran the 60 in 7.59 and threw 70 mph during catching drills with a best pop time of 2.18. He receives the ball cleanly and shows some raw arm strength behind the plate. He needs lots of work on his footwork and release at this point. Velazquez has some hand and upper body strength at the plate and showed some pop in his bat when he made contact. He really lunges badly at the ball with his upper body and has poor balance in his swing, which effects his ability to make consistent contact with the ball. He has the raw tools to hit but needs to make some adjustments. Velazquez is a very good student.
