2006 Mid-Atlantic Top Prospect Showcase
Joe Amicucci is a 2007 SS/RHP/IF that attends Albertus Magnus HS and resides in Pomona, NY with a 5'10", 148 lb. build. Joe has a lean athletic build with some room to fill out. At the plate Joe has good extension in his swing and makes consistent contact. He can turn on the ball well but his swing has a tendency to get long and loopy at times. When he levels his swing plane some he will continue to improve at the plate. In the field Joe has solid actions with an accurate arm, but his arm strength is going to limit him to second base at this time. On the mound Joe throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a short compact arm action. Joe will make hitters but the ball in play and shows some nice cut action on his fastball. He shows off a sharp 11 to 5 CB and has good mound presence. Joe is a player that should attract the attention of many smaller colleges.
