Chase Townsend: We’ve had Townsend at events before and know that he’s a Division I capable player. He showed it again in Fort Myers. Townsend is 6-3, 190 lbs and is very projectable physically. He’s going to fill out well as he gets older and be a strong young man. That fits well with his best tool, which is his bat. Townsend already hits for good power and put a couple over the fence during batting practice. His father was a minor league infielder in the Red Sox organization and Townsend’s experience with wood and in his approach at the plate shows in his swing. He’ll take the ball hard the opposite way if that’s the best way to handle a pitch. Townsend profiles out to first base or potentially right field down the road. His best defensive tool is his arm strength and he even threw 82-83 off the mound for an inning.
