Ryan Kelley is a 2008 MIF with a 5'9'', 140 lb. frame from Crystal Lake IL, who attends Crystal Lake South. Kelley has a smaller frame with a thin wirey build. Defensively, Kelley has soft hands and makes the picks up the middle. He has good defensive actions and has nice footwork. Kelley showed good range up the middle and in the hole. He is a hard nosed player who is very aggressive on the defensive aspect of the game. At the plate, Kelley starts with a wide base and takes a deep load to start his swing. He uses a reverse stride Jeff Bagwell style and maintains good balance through his swing. He swings on a line drive path and and gets the barrel through the zone. He has a short swing and has quick hands. Kelley has present line drive power and is a contact style hitter. He is also a very good student.
