Mason Haines is a 2009 OF/P/IF with a 5'10", 160 lb frame from Bradenton, IN who attends Pendleton HS. Mason has a lean athletic build with some room to fill out. At the plate Mason has a short line-drive swing plane with some hand quickness. He shows solid middle of the field contact and has pretty good hitting tools, but needs to work on his balance and weight transfer. In the outfield Mason has solid footwork and a good release. He runs fairly well and would best project in left field with his arm strength. On the mound Mason might show his highest upside. He has a good delivery with nice tempo and throws from a short arm circle. He has good pitchability with good command of his pitches and nice armside run on his fastball. Mason also showed off a very tight 11 to 5 curveball. Mason is a player that could attract the attention of many mid to high-level college programs as a pitcher.
