2006 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Jesse Harris is a 2007 C/1B with a 6'2'', 195 lb. frame from Toronto ON, who attends Bishop Allen Academy. He has a nice athletic build with some present strength. Harris showed very good arm strength behind the plate at 77 mph and had a best pop time of 2.18. His catching/throwing fundamentals are raw and he could shorten his arm stroke and quicken his release with a few adjustments. Harris had a high energy approach behind the plate and really showed his hustle consistently. Offensively, Harris hits out of an open stance and opens his front side early and takes a full, aggressive swing. He's trying to lift and pull the ball and he has some bat speed. Put the ball where he wants it inside and Harris is going to hit it hard. We really apprciated Harris's aggressiveness in all aspects of the game and his high energy effort. His skills need some polishing, but the raw talent and effort are there to keep improving.
