2006 National Underclass Showcase
Jeff Mattson is a 2008 IF with a 6'1", 160 lb frame from Bay Village, Ohio, who attends St. Ignatius High School. Jeff has a lean build with a good amount of room to fill out. At the plate Jeff has a level swing plane and is primarily a contact hitter at this point. His swing will get rotational and long and really needs to work on staying inside of the ball longer. When Jeff adds some strength to his build he should improve quite a bit at the plate. In the field Jeff has clean footwork and solid hands. Right now his arm would best project at first base, unless it gets quite a bit stronger. Jeff is a player that could attract the attention of some smaller colleges.
