Lopez is a 5-7, 150 lb switch hitting middle infielder from Miami who we have seen frequently at events in the past. He has very good physical tools across the board. We’ve seen his speed improve significantly over the past two years and he’s now a 7.05 runner on the slow wet track in Fort Myers and shows good quickness in the field and on the bases. Arm strength has never been a concern, either. Lopez worked out at all three positions at the Unsigned Showcase, throwing 89 mph from the outfield, 86 mph from the infield and 80 from behind the plate. We don’t see Lopez as an outfielder or catcher on a regular basis but it’s nice to know he can play these positions and his versatility should impress college coaches. His infield actions are quick and polished and while we’ve seen him play much more second base than shortstop, his tools don’t limit him at either position. Offensively, hits with high hands and has an aggressive pull type approach. He has better bat speed from the left side with an open stance and surprising gap power for his size. Lopez’s right handed swing is a bit longer with some balance issues but he still generates the bat speed to do some damage. A significant thing we saw from Lopez in Fort Myers was that he was trying so hard to do well that it affected his skills and performance. He plays much better when he’s relaxed and lets the game come to him. Lopez’s tools are good enough to play at a very high level. He is a good student also. This kid is a very good player who can contribute at any college program.

Chris Lopez is a 2005 middle infielder/third baseman from Miami, Florida with a lean athletic build at 5 ft. 7 150 pounds. He showed good mechanics and stayed balanced throughout the swing. He makes very solid contact, and hits hard line drives to all fields. He has a quick bat, and very good bat control. He has the ability to hit for average, and flashes good power at times. He showed a strong arm at 83 mph across the infield with good accuracy. He has good actions with soft hands and quick feet. He ran a 7.14 in the 60. Chris has good all-around skills, and should play at a high college level. He is a good student and can really play the game.

Chris Lopez is a skilled 2005 5'7" second baseman from Miami who we’ve seen at a number of events. He has very good first step quickness that he uses effectively both on the bases and especially on defense. He has a good quick strong arm. Throw out Lopez’s 60 time because he plays much faster at baseball distances. He goes to the ball quickly and balanced on defense and is a threat to steal anytime he’s on base. Lopez’s swing is short and controlled and he’s the type of hitter a coach wants at the top of a lineup to get on base and make things happen. Lopez’s body and approach to the game are both very mature and he’s going to play way above his tools. Chris is a very good student and an even better baseball player.

Chris Lopez -- Lopez has a mature and deceptively strong build and good present strength. He’s a switch hitter with good bat speed from the right side of the plate but he is a bit longer from the left. They key to Lopez’s offense is that he’s a highly skilled hitter, with very patient approach and very good bat head skills. One of our scouts swears that he had a 30+ pitch at bat during the showcase. Lopez’s defensive actions at second base are polished, with especially quick and sure hands and outstanding arm strength. If anything, Lopez lacks sprinter type speed but makes up for it with his hands and arm strength. What we really like about Lopez is the way he plays. He has a ton of heart and just as much hustle and he plays to win. He’s a very good student as well.

Chris is an infielder who has some excellent ability. He ran a 7.4 60yd and might project more as a 2B in the future. He has a good arm, good hands and excellent actions. His feet are quick and he makes all the plays. He is also a switch hitter with quick hands and bat control from both sides. His swing is fundamentally sound and he flashes power potential. Keep an eye on him. Very interesting 05 player and a good student.

Good player with tools. Doesn't have that prototypical MLB build, but he can flash the tools. Very strong arm across the INF. Nice hands, quick feet, good instincts and excellent actions. Really looked good at 3B. Runs OK at best, but he can play at a high level. Very good hitter, who hit good pitching hard in Ft Myers. Surprising strength and power.
