Paul Demny is a 2007 RHP with a 6'3'', 215 lb. frame from East Bernard, TX who attends East Bernard. He has a strong, mature athletic build and very good raw arm strength. Demny's fastball was up to 94 mph and was pretty consistently 92 mph when throwing 4-seamers. He threw some 2-seamers at 87-88 that had good life and were effective, also. He curveball was 76 mph and flashed very good spin at times. The whole issue with Demny are his mechanics, he didn't throw many pitches from the same delivery and release point, ranging all the way from over the top to low 3/4's. His best mechanics look to be a mid 3/4's drop and drive style. When he gains some consistency he could see his stuff really come on because he has top draft prospect talent.

Paul Demny is a 2007 right hand pitcher from East Bernard HS, residing in East Bernard, TX. Demny is built well, with a power pitcher type build and a 6'2" 200 lb. frame. Demny opened a lot of eyes at PG National, having been reputed quite well and then showing at times plus stuff. He was ranked #12 among PG National Top 85 pitchers and earned an invitation to the Aflac All-American Classic. He pitches from an over the top slot, with a pretty short arm action that seems to get on the hitters quickly. Demny has a slight cross body stride, which at times can lead to some wildness, which when he is pitching aggressively, is a good thing, quite effective. He has some rhythm in his delivery and generally is pretty free and easy, just flat out letting it go. Demny's stuff can be power stuff and he can make an at-bat very uncomfortable for a hitter. When he was letting it go, he sailed some pitches up and in and in short time hitters seemed a bit timid in the box. He showed a ton of heavy life down in the zone when he was not up and in with the fastball. Effecively wild is exactly what he was. Not only was he using his 91-94 mph fastball to dust guys off the plate, then he came back and dropped some hammer breaking balls in the zone... it seemed unfair to have that type of breaking ball command after being a bit wild with the fastball. To boot, he showed command of a usable change-up and with all his stuff he got downhill and threw enough strikes that hitters had to swing the bat, all while not being happy to be in the box. When Demny is letting it go, he was fun to watch. His stuff is going to work at a high level in D1 baseball or in pro ball. Expect him to get a lot of draft interest in the spring, particularly if he flashes some 95s and 96s.
