Zach Chavez is a 2008 MIF with a 5'8'', 150 lb. frame from Santa Barbara, CA, who attends Santa Barbara HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team. Chavez is a lean and athletic player with very good speed and quickness. He ran a 6.65 sixty, and ran even better in game action. He is a fun player to watch. Defensively he has advanced footwork and range to both sides. Chavez also has soft hands giving him advanced defensive skills. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a good approach. He is a line drive hitter with a quick bat who consistently hits the ball hard to all fields. Chavez has great balance through his swing, and he has the ability to make adjustments with his hands. His quick hands allow him to fight off tough pitches making him a tough out. Once on the bases, Chavez has great instincts with the ability to take the extra base. He can really run.
