Owen Roach is a 2023 RHP/2B/OF with a 5-11 190 lb. frame from Sykesville, MD who attends Century HS. Owen is an impressive and solidly built, emerging athlete, who shows a sound fundamental base that should continue to assist him as he moves through is HS career. In addition to his sound future on the diamond, Owen is a noted scholar in the classroom. He ran a 7.72 60 yard dash. A primary RHP, Owen pitches out of the stretch only. He utilizes a higher leg lift and appears to have great balance in and through his operation. He repeats his 3/4 slot with consistency and works down the slope well. His 75-77 mph fastball holds its plane and is thrown to both edges of the plate. His 66 mph, 12/6 breaking curveball is still a work in progress, but shows enough spin that as he continues through his HS days, that pitch should become a plus out pitch. In the OF, Owen is sure and steady. He positions well and has a playable glove. His 69 mph throws show carry and accuracy. At the plate, the strong RHH utilizes a big coil to load and trigger. When his timing is right, he flashes an ability to get his barrel to and through contact. Owen shows some projectable ability, especially with the bat. He needs to continue working on the basics of his craft and get into a consistent strength and conditioning program.
