Kotaro Uchida is a 2020 RHP/3B with a 5-8 163 lb. frame from Chiyodaku, TK who attends Matsuyama. Compact frame with a lean build. Primary right handed pitcher who worked exclusively from the stretch. Deliberate leg raise and worked to a flexed position on back side at gather. Utilized drop and drive lower half actions while releasing from a submarine arm slot. Fastball created some natural run with sink in the mid to upper 60's, topped at 68 mph. Displayed very good feel for slider and changeup offering and consistently located to the edges of the zone. Consistently kept hitters off balance and induced weak contact. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth paced footwork while clean glove actions. Looser exchanges and released from a three-quarters slot topping at 67 mph. Right handed hitter with a crouched, slightly open stance and toe tap trigger. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Clean hand path to baseball with a naturally lifted barrel plane through extension. Consistently produced sharp contact off the barrel between the gaps.
