2007 Southeast Underclass Showcase
Greg Russell is a 2010 1B/3B with a 6'3'', 215 lb. frame from Huntsville, AL who attends Grissom HS. He has a big, strong frame for his age and should keep getting stronger. He looked comfortable around first base with good footwork. Russell is a 8.20 runner, so working on his speed and agility will be a need. Offensively, Russell has a busy set up with lots of hand action and an upper body rotational swing. He takes a full, aggressive swing at the ball and is looking to hit for power. He has some bat speed and should continue to develop more in the future because of his strength. Making consistent contact and simplifying his approach as the pitching gets better will something Russell needs to focus on. His bat will be his tool.
