Matthew Belcrest is a 2022 MIF/RHP with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Saint Clair Shores, MI who attends University Liggett. Medium frame with slender, athletic build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.32 seconds. Hits from even-based stance with relaxed posture, gets onto front side through stroke, steeper entry path, good feel for the barrel with accuracy, covers the plate well and sprays liners around. Worked out in the infield, solid footwork to and through the ball, hands work well, balanced into shuffle and release, clocked up to 76 mph with good accuracy. Also pitched, good direction to the plate, drop-and-drive off backside, compact arm stroke to overtop slot, fastball worked 77-80 mph with good arm side run and some heaviness, worked in slow curveball for strikes. Very good student.
